I took a risk

And followed a path

I've never been before

My journey leads me to a quiet place

I see things

never seen before

Hear things

never heard before

Feel things

never felt before

Smell things

never smelt before

Not like this

Oh what joy

To follow a path

never been before.

Exploring Dementia

 

When I open the door of the room of dementia

When I open the door of the room of dementia...

My felt sense sees beyond what I see,

I feel the mixture of differences

the sound of laughter

echoing of distant times and now.

I smell the fear of unknown futures,

of  loss and change of who I might become.

I am filled with excitement

of the sense of hope,

of what can be,

if only others were open enough

to see,

to hear,

to smell,

to feel,

to touch,

to connect.

It is a while since I last visited here...
will you wait for me,
while my creativity ebbs and flows,
as life's cruel edges
block the sunshine of my soul,
will you trust that one day I will return?
